Professor Dr M Afzal Bodla

MBBS, MS, DORCS. (Refractive, Phaco and Glaucoma Surgery)

He did his graduation in 1974 from Nishtar Medical College. After graduating he proceeded to Dublin, Ireland and worked at Royal Victoria Eye and Ear Infirmary. He completed his Diploma in Ophthalmology in 1978 before joining Nishtar Medical College as Assistant Professor in Ophthalmology in 1980.

Professor Bodla served at Nishtar Medical College, Multan from 1980 till 1989 as Assistant and than Associate Professor of Ophthalmology. He was one of the pioneers in the region to start intraocular lens implant, corneal transplants and phacoemulsification cataract surgery.

He always kept his interest in research and has more than 50 national and international presentations to his credit. He has been an active and regular participant and presenter in APAO, ICO, SAARAC & AFROASIAN congresses.
He has published in different Journal of Pakistan and abroad, his primary area of research is Glaucoma. He has been on the research panel of Upjohn.

He actively participated in the teaching process through out his career and served as President of Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan Multan Branch 1996-1998 & 2005-2007. He is Executive Vice President of Pakistan Glaucoma Association since 2007.

He has been serving as Professor of Ophthalmology Multan Medical & Dental College Multan Since Oct,2008. Currently he performs cataract and glaucoma surgery at Bodla Eye Care as well as laser treatment (LASIK) refractive surgery at Wavelaz.

Asst. Professor Dr Ali Afzal Bodla

MBBS, MRCOphth, MRCS Ed, FRCS. (Retinal, Eye Lid and Refractive Surgery)

Ali received his basic specialist training in Ophthalmology (Eye Surgery) at West of Scotland Deanery and Higher Specialist Training as Specialist Registrar at West Midland School of Ophthalmology, Birmingham. He completed advanced specialist training in Ophthalmic Plastic, Lacrimal and Orbit surgery at The Birmingham and Midland Eye Centre, one of the largest specialist eye hospitals in Europe. He has specialist training in the orbital decompression surgery. He is a member of the Royal College of Ophthalmologist, London and Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. He is a Fellow of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons, Glasgow.

He extended his training to vitreoretinal surgery and completed surgical training fellowship in Retinal Surgery at Gloucestershire Eye Unit, which is one of the prestigious surgical vitreoretinal fellowships in Western Europe. He joined the same unit as Consultant Ophthalmologist before moving back to Pakistan in 2013. He has been actively involved in teaching at Warwick Medical School and Keele University, Manchester. His publications are available and can be accessed at PubMed.

His area of expertise include cataract, retinal detachment, epi-retinal and macular hole repair surgery and surgical management of diabetic retinopathy and maculopathy. He also provides expert surgical services in lid surgery, treatment of watery eyes and management of cancer around eye ball.
He has been actively involved in teaching at Warwick Medical School and Keele University, Manchester.

Currently he is working as Consultant Ophthalmologist at Bodla Eye Care and Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Multan Medical and Dental College, Mutan. He performs retinal and oculoplastic surgery at Bodla Eye Care on regular bases.
